This stunning Modern Kitchen forms the heart of a brand new, contemporary, low-energy eco-home. The clients are a retired couple who were looking to future-proof their new home and ensure that it would allow them to live there for as long as possible. This meant keeping all the cabinetry at a relatively low level, with just a couple of mid-height units for the integrated steamer/oven and warming drawer, plus the larder fridge. Additional storage, including a freezer, was provided by the walk-in larder just a few steps away. The clean lines of the Little Greene Scree-coloured Modern Kitchen units are softened by the oak plinths and handle rails running the length of the hob and sink run, whilst the cut-out shelf on the island provides a lovely bit of detail. The units are topped by worktops in Silestone Classic White with a suede finish. They opted for a Bora Classic 2 integrated cooktop extractor, to be used in recirculating mode and the ovens and warming drawer are by Miele. The Kohler sink and Hotspot boiling tap, both in brushed stainless steel finish off the appliances. The result is a beautifully simple, spacious and light kitchen, providing form and function both now and well into the future.
